Chamomile Tea...Fresh from the Garden

Brewing chamomile tea with fresh flowers from your garden is easy and very tasty!

Here's what you need to make a cuppa!

Ingredients for 2 cups of Tea

  • 1 cup of fresh chamomile flowers

  • 2 cups of water

  • Honey (optional)

How to Harvest Chamomile Flowers

  • Pick fresh chamomile flowers from your garden, ideally in the morning when they are at their best.

  • Choose flowers that are fully open and healthy-looking.

  • Gently shake the flowers to remove any insects or dirt.

How to Make Tea

Rinse Flowers

  • Place the flowers in a colander and rinse them gently under cool running water.

Boil Water

  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot or kettle.

Prepare Flowers

  • Place rinsed chamomile flowers in a teapot or directly into your teacup.

Steep Tea

  • Pour the boiling water over the chamomile flowers.

  • Let the flowers steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

  • Fresh chamomile tea has a delicate flavor, so taste as you steep to ensure it’s brewed to your liking.

Strain the Tea

  • After steeping, strain the tea to remove flowers.

  • If you used a teapot, pour the tea through a fine mesh strainer into your cup. If you made the tea directly in your cup, you can use a small strainer or simply remove the flowers with a spoon.

Add Sweetener (Optional)

  • If desired, add honey to taste.

Note: You can dry extra flowers by laying them on a clean cloth in a cool, dry place. When they are dry, place them in an air tight container for future use.
