Relaxation and Travel

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax.
~ Mark Black

Good Morning!

I truly believe that creativity comes to us when we are relaxed and not consciously thinking about being creative. Taking time away from your "normal" environment is a perfect way to rejuvenate and energize your creativity and productivity. I recently listened to a Ted Talk on this topic by designer Stefan Sagmeister, titled The Power of Time Off. He talks about his decision to spread his retirement years into his work years and how it helped his creativity.

Maybe this is why I liked being in school. You work really hard for three months and then have a long break to rest and re-energize and then work hard again for another 3 months. It's a nice balance!

I took some time away from the studio recently for a girls weekend on the Island of Vancouver in British Columbia. We stayed at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast and hiked, and walked on the beach, ate Nanaimo ice cream, and browsed a fabulous architectural repurpose store. I found the time off to be very refreshing....and I want share some of the adventure with you!
