Holiday Decor in Blue and White: Home Tour

We are having a blue Christmas in the best possible way this year. Our living room and dining room host a collection of items from our time in China and I love using what we already have for Christmas decorations.

Sometimes using what you have requires thinking outside the box and digging in your closets and cupboards to find “hidden treasures”. Do you have a collection that could be used in a different way….possibly during the holiday season? My friend Paula uses pink and black flamingos and they are fabulous! Maybe…all you need to add are a few velvet ribbons and fresh greens…then…Viola…unexpected Christmas decor!

I hope you will come along for our 2021 house tour part 2…

In the Entry

Our entry is an explosion of textures….a velvet table runner, pampas grass from our neighbors yard…

…sparkly snowballs, metal bells, feathers…

…paper snowflakes from a past holiday, small cone trees, shiny blue goblets…some turned upside down…

…and a pop of blue and white berry picks from the craft store.

In the Dining Room

On the table…a velvet table runner, chinese vases filled with fresh greens and lambs ear…a bowl full of blue and white ornaments…

…thrifted brass and ceramic candlesticks…

…and a small white vase holding a Christmas ornament…

White spoons make perfect plate toppers when combined with ribbon and rosemary! These spoons can be found at Asian markets and are multi purpose decorating items. I’ve used them as tree ornaments and to serve bite size appetizers.

If you have been following our blog for awhile…you know I am a big fan of mix and match table settings.

Mixing traditional designs with Asian patterns make a cohesive collection here because the color palette unites them.

On the buffet this year….a mix of crystal candle holders, white candles…

…and a tower of white vintage pieces filled with christmas beads and ornaments.

In the Living Room

On the fireplace mantle…a feather boa…

…candle holders tied with blue velvet ribbons…

…and a collection of blue and white ceramic pieces; one filled with feathers that compliment the boa.

The coffee table holds a tall vase with fresh greens, peacock feathers, and sprigs of blue and pearl berries. Bowls are filled with silver and blue bells and small silver ornaments.

A small tree sits beside the fireplace and is adorned with peacock feathers. The side table showcases several blue and white items that were excavated from the back of a cupboard…

…and a variety of blue accents fill other containers in the room.

Thanks for taking the tour and staying to the end! I would love to know how you are decorating this year or how you use non-traditional colors during the holidays! You can leave a comment below!

Velvet Table Runners
from $69.00

Velvet adds an elevated sophistication to any table decor. Place one long runner down the center of your table or place several shorter runners across the table for an unexpected touch. The soft velvet texture reflects candlelight beautifully.

How to choose the right size: Measure your table top and add 20”. That will give you a 10” drop at each end.

You can also use these runners at the foot of your bed to add a pop of color!

Handmade in our studio.
